Getting the most from rehearsal dinners
Ask the person giving the welcome toast to point at the QR code before they start. Guests upload the most in the first ten minutes after they are told to, and a toast is the one moment the whole room is looking in the same direction. If the code is on the table when they sit down and mentioned once out loud, you will get photos from almost every table; if it is only on the table, you will get them from a third.
Give the guestbook a real question rather than leaving the default. "What is one piece of advice for the first year?" or "Tell us how you met one of them" gets stories instead of congratulations, and the older relatives who would never write anything down will happily record a voice message. Sixty seconds is plenty; the good ones are short.
Do not share the gallery with the wedding-day guests until after the ceremony. The rehearsal dinner is usually the smaller, closer circle, and some of what gets said and photographed is for that room. Keep it private overnight, then link it from the wedding gallery once that exists, so the whole weekend lives at one address and the smaller room stays the smaller room.
Common questions about rehearsal dinners
Should the rehearsal dinner have its own event or share the wedding's?
Either works, and it depends on who is hosting. If the couple is running everything, create the wedding once and add the rehearsal dinner as a sub-event: the same code covers both, uploads are grouped by day, and there is one gallery to share afterwards. If a parent or the wedding party is hosting the dinner separately, give it its own event so they control the guest list, the guestbook question and who receives the finished gallery. You can always send the couple the link either way.
Guests will not know to upload photos. How do we get them to?
Put the code where people are already looking: a small card at each place setting, one by the bar, and one mentioned in the welcome toast. Most guests upload within minutes of being asked, and a rehearsal dinner is a room full of people who like the couple and want to help. You can also send the link by email to everyone on the guest list before dinner, so the people who arrive early have already opened it.
Can guests record the toasts, not just photograph them?
Yes. From the same upload page a guest can record a video message up to 30 seconds or a voice message up to 60 seconds, and both are saved with the photos. For a long toast, one guest filming it with their phone's camera and uploading the clip afterwards works well too — video uploads are included, up to the fair-use limit of 25 GB for the event.
Is the gallery private? Some of what gets said is only for that room.
The gallery is private by default. It is only reachable by the link or code you share, it is never listed anywhere, and guest pages are blocked from search engines and AI crawlers. If you turn on host review, every upload waits for your approval before anyone else sees it. You can close the gallery to new uploads whenever you like and it stays online for 365 days on an Event Pass.
How much does it cost for one dinner?
