Getting the most from surprise parties
Send the link with the invitation and tell guests exactly what to do with it. A surprise party has one moment that matters, and the guests who will be nearest the door need to have the upload page already open in a browser tab and their camera ready before the lights go off, because nobody will have time to scan anything in the dark. How do I make sure the reveal gets filmed?
Send the upload link to every guest before the party and tell them to have it open and their camera ready before the lights go out. Nobody will scan a QR code in a dark room in the ten seconds before the door opens, but a guest who already has the page in a tab can record straight from it or film in their camera app and upload during the first toast. Ask two or three guests specifically to cover the door, the honoree's reaction and the crowd. The rest will film anyway, and with the link in their hands, those clips go into the gallery instead of staying on thirty phones.
Can the guest of honor accidentally see the gallery before the party?
Not unless someone sends them the link. The gallery is private by default, reachable only by the link or code you share, never listed anywhere, and blocked from search engines and AI crawlers. Name the event something bland so a notification on a guest's screen does not give it away, and tell guests not to forward the link. The honoree only gets it when you decide, either by handing them the link at the party or by setting them as the recipient and letting the finished gallery arrive the next day.
