If the wedding has not happened yet, switching is straightforward and mostly a printing problem. If it has, switching is not really switching — it is downloading from one service and uploading to another, and it is rarely worth it.

What actually transfers between wedding photo services?

Nothing automatic. There is no import tool between these products and there is unlikely ever to be one. What transfers is your intent: a new QR code, a new link, and whatever you had printed needs reprinting.

Before the wedding that is a minor cost. After it, you are moving files by hand.

What do you need to redo if you switch?

Every printed surface carrying the old code — table cards, signage, the back of the menu, anything at the bar. Any link you have already sent to guests. And any instructions given to your photographer, planner or MC, who are working from what you told them weeks ago.

Make the list before you decide. It is usually shorter than people fear and longer than they remember.

How late is too late to change?

Two weeks out is comfortable. One week is tight but fine if the printing is simple. Inside a few days, do not — the risk of two codes circulating and guests uploading to a gallery you have abandoned is worse than whatever made you want to switch.

If you are inside that window and unhappy, the better move is usually to run the service you have and download promptly.

Can you get a refund on the one you already bought?

Ask, and ask specifically what happens if the event has not occurred yet. Most one-time passes in this category are bought well in advance, and a service that will not discuss a refund on an unused pass for a wedding that has not happened is telling you something useful about how it handles problems.

Get the answer in writing before you buy the replacement, not after.

Is it worth switching to save $20?

No. The reprinting alone will cost more than the difference, and the risk of a mixed-code wedding is not worth a small saving. Switch for something structural — an upload cap that will not fit your guest count, no bulk download of originals, a retention window that closes before you will get to it — not for price.

Those are the differences that change your outcome. Price is the one that does not.

What should you check on the new service before committing again?

The same things you should have checked the first time: the upload cap and whether video counts against it, whether bulk download of full-resolution originals is included, how long the gallery stays up, and whether guests need an account. Test the guest flow yourself on a free tier before you print anything.

Switching twice is a much worse outcome than choosing carefully once.
