A large share of guests keep their profiles private, and a hashtag search cannot see inside a private account no matter how well you printed the sign. Those photos exist and you will never find them.
You are searching, not collecting
A hashtag is a query someone else runs on someone else's app. Results depend on their ranking, their filters, and whether the poster tagged it correctly — one typo and the photo is gone from your wedding forever.
Everything comes back compressed
Social platforms re-encode what you upload. Even the photos you do find are a screenshot away from being a small, soft copy of the original — no good for a print, an album, or anything you wanted to keep.
It relies on people posting at all
Fewer guests post to a public feed than used to, and many take photos they would happily give you but would never put on their profile. The hashtag only ever catches the subset who chose to publish.

Do wedding hashtags still work?
Less every year. They only ever caught photos that guests chose to post publicly and tagged correctly, and both of those have been shrinking. Private accounts have never been visible to a hashtag search at all, so a large part of the room was always invisible to it.
Can I use a hashtag and something else together?
Plenty of couples do. The hashtag is a nice touch on signage and a fun thing to scroll. Just do not rely on it to actually collect your photos — put a QR code next to it so the ones that matter land somewhere you own.
How is Picsui different?
