Some guests keep their profiles private, and a hashtag search cannot see inside a private account no matter how well you printed the sign. Those photos exist and you will never find them.
You are searching, not collecting
A hashtag is a query someone else runs on someone else's app. Results depend on their ranking, their filters, and whether the poster tagged it correctly — one typo and the photo never shows up in your search.
You don't get the original file
What you find through a hashtag is the copy the platform shows, not the guest's original file. To get the full-resolution photo you still have to ask each guest for it.
It relies on people posting at all
Many guests take photos they would happily give you but would never put on their profile. The hashtag only ever catches the subset who chose to publish.

Do wedding hashtags still work?
They catch the photos guests choose to post publicly and tag correctly. Private accounts are not visible to a hashtag search at all, so photos from those guests never show up.
Can I use a hashtag and something else together?
Yes. The hashtag is a nice touch on signage and a fun thing to scroll. Just do not rely on it to actually collect your photos — put a QR code next to it so the ones that matter land somewhere you own.
